2010 Arctic Winter Games Mascot to Hatch This Sunday
Grande Prairie, Alberta - The 2010 Arctic Winter Games new mascot will be hatching at the Storm Game this Sunday, November 23 at the Canada Games Arena. Families won’t want to miss this special event where they can welcome Grande Prairie’s newest member into the community.
Games staff and volunteers have been carefully tending to the egg the mascot presently calls home, eagerly waiting for Sunday’s big event when the egg will finally hatch. The mascot’s first “official” duty will be to face off against other local mascots in a game of musical chairs, sometime during the Storm game. A “Guess What’s in the Egg” contest will be held the morning of November 23 at the arena, where the egg will be available for viewing. The contest winner will be announced at the 2010 Games Warm Up Party at Muskoseepi Park after the Santa Claus Parade the following weekend, November 30.
The Warm-Up Party will be a family event with giveaways, hot chocolate and goodies, and information about how to volunteer for this international event. Kids can meet and have their photo taken with the mascot, and there will be a chance for the community to try out some fun Arctic sports.
