Drag Wars Challenge Supports the Games

Grande Prairie, Alberta – A friendly competition during this year’s ‘King of the Street’ competition at Drag Wars put more than just pride on the line as Daryll Charles and Jim Munroe raced to support their chosen charities.

The sale of 50/50 tickets encouraged supporters to choose their favoured driver in the best-of-three bracket racing competition. In addition to receiving $500 from the loser, the winner also chose a non-profit group to receive the 50/50 proceeds.
Munro won the first heat and red-lighted the second, before pulling off another win in the third to wrap up the best-of-three challenge.
By the end of the weekend $731 had been raised for the 2010 Arctic Winter Games in Grande Prairie, a cheque Mascot Aluk was happy to accept on behalf of the Games (while trying to score a ride in Munro’s 1969 Corvette).
