Team Alberta North Gears Up for the 2008 Arctic Winter Games in Yellowknife

What: Staging Event - Many of the members of Team Alberta North, who will be participating in the upcoming 2008 Arctic Winter Games in Yellowknife, will be attending this event, the first of two staging events in Alberta (the other staging event will take place in Fort McMurray). The local athletes and cultural performers will be given an orientation session to prepare them for travel to the Games and brief them on what they can expect once they all arrive in Yellowknife. Team members will also receive their Team Alberta North gear at this time.
The Arctic Winter Games is an international sport and cultural event that provides Northern youth with an opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and showcase their talents.
Media are welcome to attend and interview participants and take photos.

The Arctic Winter Games is a high profile circumpolar sport and cultural event for northern participants who reside north of the 55th
parallel. Grande Prairie will host the 21st Arctic Winter games, and is the southern-most community to host the Games, which will be
held from March 6-13, 2010.
